Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts question?

I've always been a really big fan of the banjo kazooie games and I was a little dissapointed last year when the new one came out and it turned out to not have the same elements as the original game. My question is, are there still platforming elements and boss fights that take place on foot, or is most of the game done in a vehicle now? In a nutshell, do any parts of the game still play like the first two games, or did they just turn it into another diddy kong racing?
