Art therapy? difficult to break into? for an ESL teacher?

Hi there, im really interested in this career, im 28 and have been teaching english in a korean elementary school for the past couple of years, managed to save enough to study a masters. Would it be hard to get a career in this field? with my lack of mental health experience? im currently studying a distance psychotherapy diploma, just for my self really. Would this help me get on an MA? Whats the life as an art therapist like? how does one suppliment the low income? thank you for any responces, im british by the way.
