Why is it acceptable to bow down to a cross with a Jesus hanging on it, but...?

If I bow down to a statue of my pagan Gods, it is called idolizing? Isn't it the same thing, my Gods are real to me, you cannot decide for me which Gods are real, I have felt the spirit of my God in my life, you cannot change that, why are people so judgmental?
